Summer Soccer Speculation 2013
What a wonderful moment in the world of soccer. Spain and Italy just finished up a thriller at the FIFA Confederations Cup in Brazil, setting up a potential preview of next year’s world cup final with Spain versus Brazil. Carlos Tevez has finally cut ties with the city of Manchester and has been shipped off to Italian champions Juventus, but Man City have compensated by signing speedy Spaniard Jesus Navas from Sevilla. Chelsea continues to enlist the services of youthful attacking prodigies in Europe with the signing of German wunderkind Andre Schurrle (formerly of Bayer Leverkyusen). Real Madrid has stolen a new coach in former PSG man Carlo Ancelloti, and they have also stolen the future of Spanish soccer by signing away midfielder Isco from Malaga. Liverpool has a new goalkeeper in Simon Mignolet, but then again its Liverpool so who cares. It has certainly been an interesting few weeks, but the next couple of weeks following the Confederations Cup final on Sunday could be even more thrilling with many prospective signings yet to take place…
Edinson Cavani, has been rumored to go to Manchester City earlier in the summer but it looks almost certain he will end up at Chelsea or Real Madrid.
Robert Lewandowski has already submitted a transfer request to Champs League runner up Borussia Dortmund and there is speculation that he is on his way to Manchester City.
Armenian superstar Henrikh Mikhtariyan currently playing striker for Shakhtar Donetsk is a highly sought after forward and he is drawing interest from Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool.
David Villa has become unsettled at Barcelona, and with the arrival of Neymar to Barca he falls even further down the pecking order. Rumors of a transfer to the EPL are being talked about, only this time it’s to Tottenham rather than Arsenal.
Wayne Rooney has had his issues with David Moyes in the past when he was a youngster in the Everton ranks, and soccer pundits have him leaving this summer for Arsenal or Paris Saint-Germain, although it would be shocking to see him in anything other than the Manchester Red.
Paulinho is certainly making a name for himself in Brazil at the Confed Cup, and he is drawing interest from teams all over Europe. Tottenham look to be the front runner in the race to sign him, but you can never count out Real Madrid if they have shown even the slightest interest…and they certainly have.
Gareth Bale has announced that he wants to stay at Tottenham, AVB has said Bale is not leaving, but what does Carlo Ancelloti do with his first move in the transfer market as Madrid’s head honcho? An inquiry submitted to Tottenham regarding a possible swap deal entailing Gareth Bale to Madrid for Angel Di Maria and cash.
Gonzalo Higuan has long been rumored to be leaving Real Madrid with management deciding that Karim Benzema is there long term option. Initially it looked as if Higuain would be heading to Italy for Juventus, but with their signing of Carlos Tevez, it looks almost certain that Higuain will be heading to the Emirates Stadium in north London to play for Arsene Wenger and the Gunners.
Thiago Alcantra is a stud, he would be the center piece of any team in Europe except for the one he plays on. His talents are wasting away on the bench of Barcelona, and with the signing of Neymar it is more than likely that Thiago will be leaving to replace Rooney in his likely departure from Manchester United.
